In the first step of the Las Vegas Tropicana’s renovation, the Paradise Tower rooms are being remodeled.

Tropicana Las Vegas has begun a $165 million Phase I transformation to be completed in April 2011. Situated on the corner of Las Vegas Boulevard and Tropicana Avenue in LasVegas, the transformed property will feature a redesigned facade, all new rooms and suites, all new amenities, restaurants and bars, and entertainment and nightlife options that will bring the glamour, rhythm and style of South Beach to Tropicana Las Vegas. No corner of the property will remain untouched.
Styled to capture the laid-back island vibe, the rooms and suites are accented with bamboo furnishings and windows framed by white plantation shutters that welcome in natural light. The guest rooms will be the newest accommodations in the city. The first of the new hotel rooms will be unveiled on April 23 in the Paradise Tower.
The conference center transformation is complete, with more than 100,000 square feet of meeting and function space ready to accommodate up to 3,000 people. It comprises a main ballroom with over 25,000 square feet with 11 breakout meeting rooms; a 10,000-square-foot function space with eight smaller breakout rooms; and a 54,000-square-foot indoor exhibition hall.
The pool area, set on over four acres, will be transformed into a tropical beach resort complete with gaming, bars, and restaurants. The details of a new nightclub and beach club will be announced on May 11.
Dining will included authentic seafood restaurants, casual dining and wine tasting from around the world. Entertainment and nightlife will feature performance venues that include a 1,000- seat showroom, a 300-seat cabaret style room, and a 150-seat bar and lounge.
The casino, which will feature a new poker room and a new race and sports book, will channel a light, breezy, island feel throughout its 50,000 square feet. The casino floor and other main walkways are laid with Thassos White Marble, an elegant stone quarried only on the Greek island of the same name since ancient times.

The Tropicana Las Vegas is in the midst of an overhaul and the head-to-toe makeover is starting to take shape.
Vegas.com, a sister company of the Las Vegas Sun, got a sneak peek last week of the property’s changeover to a South Beach-feel.
Before the revamp, the Tropicana had remained virtually unchanged since its last renovation in 1985. A $125 million facelift was announced shortly after the hotel-casino emerged from bankruptcy as a stand-alone company under the leadership of Alex Yemenidjian last July.
Since the announcement, Tropicana has released an updated logo, brought in a new executive team and unveiled phases of the renovation project.
The project included redesigning Tropicana’s casino floor, hotel rooms, convention space, restaurants, pool and adding a nightclub to bring the hotel-casino up to speed.
Tropicana added two new restaurants in September, including Biaco Pasta and Vino, and Havana GO GO, which replaced the hotel’s Java Java coffee shop. Legends Steakhouse and Seafood is undergoing renovations.
The Paradise Tower rooms have been redone and are expected to open this spring.
The Island Tower walkway, which once held a string of kiosks selling novelty items, has been revamped with white marble and is vendor-free.
The next phase of the project will include remodeled rooms in the Island and Garden Towers, a nightclub, a sports book and exterior renovations.
